1 1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
10 ounces chocolate chips
Cream the butter and sugar in an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
Add
the eggs and vanilla and beat well. Combine the flour, cocoa powder,
baking
soda, and salt. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture gradually,
beating until it is well incorporated. Stir in the chocolate chips and
drop
rounded teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake in a preheated 350 degrees F oven for 8 to 9 minutes, until the
cookies
have puffed up (they will flatten as they cool). Cool slightly before
removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy.
Ranking #1 in nearly every "favorite cookie" poll, the chocolate chip
cookie
is pretty much the go-to cookie of choice for both kids and grownups
alike.
