Cookies:
3 large eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons anise extract
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
5 cups all-purpose flour
Glaze:
2 cups confectioners� sugar
3 1/2 Tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon anise extract
Decoration:
Colored nonpareils or sprinkles
Cookies:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Whisk eggs, sugar, baking powder and extract in
a large bowl until blended. Whisk in oil, milk and peel until blended. Stir in flour gradually until blended. Drop cookies by heaping Tablespoons 2-inches apart on baking sheets. Bake 10 minutes until bottoms are light golden. Remove to wire rack to cool.
Glaze:
Stir confectioners� sugar milk and extract in small bowl until blended and smooth. Dip tops of cookies in glaze then, while still wet, sprinkle tops with nonpareils. Let dry completely, then pack in airtight containers.
