½ cup shortening, softened
½ cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 and ¾ cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1 teaspoon soda
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1/2teaspoon salt
1teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Cream together shortening, butter, eggs, and sugar; set aside.
Sift together flour, soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
Stir flour mixture into creamed mixture; mix
well.
Add vanilla; mix well.
Chill dough in refrigerator.
Roll dough into walnut-size balls and roll balls in mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon. Do not flatten.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
Bake 8-10 minutes until lightly browned but still soft.
These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out with crinkled tops.
