1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar, divided
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
3/4 cup low-fat buttermilk
1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons orange juice, divided
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray 8×4-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Combine flour, 1/2 cup sugar, orange peel, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in medium bowl; mix well. Whisk egg, buttermilk, 1/3 cup orange juice, and oil in small bowl until smooth and well blended. Stir into flour mixture until moistened. Fold in walnuts. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
Whisk remaining 2 tablespoons orange juice and 1 tablespoon sugar in small bowl until well blended and sugar is dissolved; brush over warm bread. Cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Remove to wire rack; serve warm or cool completely.
