Ingredients:

1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
1 medium green bell pepper, diced
1 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
salt, to taste
pepper to taste
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon water
6 ounces provolone cheese, sliced or in chunks
8 hamburger buns
1 tablespoon butter, optional

Method:

1 Place a large nonstick pan or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
2 Coat the pan with oil.
3 Add the ground beef and cook until the beef is mostly browned, for about 3 to 5 minutes.
4 Drain the fat from the skillet.
5 Add the onion and bell pepper and sauté until the onions are translucent, for about 2 to 3 minutes.
6 Add in the beef broth, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
7 Mix the cornstarch with the water to create a slurry.
8 Add the slurry to the pan, stirring constantly.
9 Once the mixture is thick enough to form mounds, remove it from the heat.
10 Add the cheese and slowly stir it in.
11 Butter and toast the buns to your desired doneness.
12 Spoon the meat mixture onto the toasted buns.
13 Serve!
