Chunky Spiced Applesauce (Diabetic)

Ingredients:

3 1/2 pounds tart cooking apples (about 8 large), peeled and chopped
1/2 cup water
7 1/4 teaspoons Equal? for Recipes or 24 packets Equal? sweetener or 1 cup Equal? Spoonful?
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 to 2 dashes salt

Method:

1. Combine apples and water in large saucepan ; heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, until apples are tender, 20 to 25 minutes.
2. Mash apples coarsely with fork; stir in Equal?, cinnamon , nutmeg and salt. Serve warm, or refrigerate and serve chilled.

Helpful Hints:

Makes 10 servings.
Note: Amount of Equal? may vary depending on the tartness of the apples.
