French Bread

2 tsp. Yeast
1 tblsp. Sugar
1 tblsp. Butter
1 cup warm water
1/2 tblsp. Salt
2 ½ to 3 cups flour


mix all ingredients together and knead for about ten minutes. Let rise. Shape & roll in corn meal. Put on pan and slash top. Brush with egg. Let rise the second time.
Put in a cold oven then turn heat to 400 degrees. Bake about 35 minutes. Makes a
perfect loaf. Voila!

Helpful Hints:

Kay’s note:
1. If you have a bread machine, put all ingredients in tub of machine and set on
dough cycle. Remove from tub, and proceed as instructed.

2. If you have a food processor, put all ingredients in the bowl of your processor and process for 50 to 60 seconds. Remove from bowl and put in a bowl that has been greased. Cover with plastic wrap anda towel and set in a warm place to rise until double. Then proceed as above.
