Tips for making French Onion Soup:
1. Go low and slow. The BEST (only) way to caramelize onions is to cook them slowly over medium-low heat and stir them regularly to avoid burning. It takes a good 30-40 minutes to bring out the best flavor, so be patient!
2. Find a balance between savory & sweet. A good French Onion Soup has both sweet and savory notes, and the right balance might be different for different people. Don’t be afraid to experiment a bit with the sweet & savory measurements until you find the right fit for you!
3. Let it simmer. The flavors in French Onion Soup develop as it simmers, so don’t skip that final step. And in the case of this French Onion Noodle Soup, the simmering is an essential part of cooking the noodles, so definitely don’t skip it!
