Ginger Ale chicken

Ingredients:

12 ounce can ginger ale
3 to 4 lb. chicken

2 cups wood chips which have been soaked in water for at least 1 hour

Make ginger paste:
2 tblsp. Finely chopped fresh ginger
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 green onions finely chopped Use both white and green parts
1 tsp. kosher salt
½ tsp. ground pepper
2 tsp. sesame oil or 1 tblsp. Vegetable oil

Method:

Wash and pat dry a whole chicken.
Smear the ginger paste onto the inside and outside of the chicken.
Put a ¼ inch slice of fresjh ginger into both cavities of the chicken.
Place the large end of the chicken onto the soda can using the 2 legs and the can as the parts of the tripod.
Place onto the grill and grill for 1 ½ to 1 ¾ hours.

For charcoal grill: Place the soaked wood chips onto a bed of coals.
For a gas grill: Place soaked wood chips in a heat proof pan and place onto the heat of the grill which will cause smoke for great flavor.
Make large holes in the can of ginger and pour out ¾ cups of soda and set aside.
