Mandarin Salad

1 tsp. salt & a dash of pepper
2 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons vinegar
? cup salad oil
several dashes Tabasco
2 tablespoons chopped parsley

? cup sliced almonds
2 tablespoons sugar
? head of romaine
? head iceberg lettuce
1 can drained mandarin oranges
2 cups chopped celery
4 green onions chopped
? red onion sliced, optional


Cook almonds with sugar over low heat stirring constantly for a few minutes to coat. Remove from heat and set aside.
Break up salad greens into pieces. Just before serving add the other ingredients , make the dressing and toss with salad.
