Sun-Maid Victory Cake

Ingredients:

1 cup Sun-Maid~ Raisins
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup water
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cloves
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Method:

Combine Raisins, sugar, water, shortening and spices; heat to boiling and simmer 2 minutes. Cool 1 hour. Resift flour with baking soda and salt. Stir into raisin mixture, along with walnuts. Turn into greased 9 inch tube or square pan. Bake 300 degrees 50 to 60 minutes, just until cake tests done. Cool in pan.
Makes 1 9 inch cake.
