Dear Members,
The latest update on Terry Scott from Lexi below.Dear Teresa Rose and Prayer Warriors,
I spoke with the hospital several times between yesterday and today, and have gotten several updates on Terry. Things are not looking very good at all. The nurse took him to get a CT scan and an EEG of the brain around 4:45 PM eastern time yesterday. The results of the EEG usually takes about 24 hours to come back so we expect to get those results at some point today. However, the results of the CT scan did come back last night, but since Lera is currently at Terry's bedside, the hospital will not release those results to me until Lera finds out what they are first. I will keep everybody updated once that information gets released to me.
I was also informed that they did CPR on Terry for at least 6 minutes which is not a good thing because doing CPR on someone for that long can cause them to have moderate to severe brain damage. We think he may have even been code blue for longer than 6 minutes, but it depends on how quick everybody started performing CPR on him.
As far as his vital signs, I was informed yesterday that Terry's lowest blood pressure was 95/48 which is on the low side, especially that bottom number. This was after they tried taking him off the blood pressure medication that he's being given intravenously to determine if his levels were stable or not. Today, his levels seem to be doing a little bit better. He is off the medication for right now. The nurse told me that the top number of his blood pressure has been ranging anywhere from 113 to 129 which is good, but we're not sure what the bottom number has been at this time.
Yesterday, Terry was also not able to breathe very well on his own when they tried to put him on the CPAP machine and decrease the oxygen level on the ventilator to 40 percent. They had the ventilator at 55 percent throughout the day. Today, they were able to decrease it down to 40 percent, and he seemed to be breathing a little bit better on the CPAP. However, he is not responding to different commands that he's being instructed to follow such as holding his breath, coughing, taking deep breaths, etc. This means that he wouldn't be able to rely solely on the CPAP if he cannot follow the commands that he's being instructed to follow.
The nurse has already stated that the family needs to sit down with the doctor and have a long conversation about what the next steps should be for Terry, given the fact that it is only the ventilator and all of the medications that he's currently taking that is living his life for him. Please keep every member of the Scott family in your thoughts and prayers as they discuss what the best decision will be for Terry at this time.
I will be sure to keep everybody updated as I find out more information, Lexiâ?
God Bless,
Teresa Rose
